Fully support the 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processor family (codenamed Sandy Bridge), including render acceleration, 3D, compositing, Xv, and H.264/MPEG2 decoding.

known issues

- already fixed in newer kernel:

Check eDP encoder correctly when setting modes, required by some eDP machines like Sony Vaio: bug#31988.
Sandy Bridge: some eDP broken: bug#29791.

- TODO:

Black screen on eDP for some Dell e6510: bug#29278.
Sandy Bridge: suspend-resume may fail on some machines: bug#32539.
Sandy Bridge: hardware-accelerated VC-1 decoding support.
Sandy Bridge: hardware-accelerated media encoding support.

- support discontinued:

XvMC is disabled on 915G/GM for KMS: bug#23012.
CH7xxxx DVO TV-out not supported (Chrontel specs are open so anyone could write the driver): bug#12882.
Textured video is not available on i8xx.

This release has been validated on following hardware: Sandy Bridge, Intel® HD Graphics (Arrandale & Clarkdale), GMA 3150 (Pineview), GM45, GM965.
